Abducted teacher released

TURA, OCT 30 : Maliram Rabha , the teacher who was kidnapped, was released on Thursday early morning by his abductors. The teacher was reportedly released without any ransom being paid to his abductors.

Rabha was released at the village of Sepikol in the North Garo hills district.
The kidnapping of the teacher has been mired in controversy with the police team of North Garo hills insisting that the kidnapping was the handiwork of the area commander of North, Philifort Momin of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA).

But the GNLA denied having kidnapped Rabha and instead said the police team was bent on maligning its image by trying to pin the blame on the outfit for the condemnable act of abducting a teacher.

GNLA claimed that the kidnapping was done by the Achik Matgrik Tiger Force (AMTF), an outfit that the police debunked.
North Garo hills SP JFK Marak confirmed Rabha’s release.  He said, “From what we have heard from our sources there was no money given for the release of Rabha and he reached home safe and sound.
