Now Cong revamp

SHILLONG, AUG 26: A day after the first cabinet reshuffling, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) is also set to go for a major revamping of the party ahead of the crucial state polls scheduled for 2018. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the MPCC president DD Lapang on Friday.

The meeting unanimously decided that all non-functioning committees of the MPCC would soon be reconstituted and party members willing to work for the growth of the party would be inducted.

“All non-functioning office bearers of the MPCC would be replaced by the active party members who wish to devote time to the party,” a functionary of the MPCC said in a statement issued here.

It was decided that the next meeting of the MPCC would be held at Tura in the fourth week of September, 2016, and that the office of the MPCC would start making necessary arrangement from now on.

Meanwhile, the MPCC president immediately after the meeting contacted the AICC general secretary in-charge CP Joshi and briefed him about the swearing in of the two new ministers in the Congress-led MUA Government in the state held in the morning and reactions of the party MLAs and the rank and file of party and their willingness to work together.

Lapang also informed Joshi about the just held meeting of the MPCC office bearers and the important decisions arrived at, as per the directives of the AICC.-By Our Reporter
