Blast averted in Tura

TURA, AUG 19: Police arrested an eighteen years ULFA militant Babul Rabha,  alias Kancha, from Chandmari locality on Tuesday and manage to avert a major blast in Tura. Another militant was also later arrested after Rabha provided with information about him to the police

Rabha hails from Krishnai in Goalpara district of Assam. He told the police that they had plan to carry out a bomb blast in Tura.

West Garo hills SP Mukesh Singh said, “Rabha was to be provided with materials for blast by the GNLA”. He also revealed that Rabha is involved in the recent blast, which took place in Krishnai.

Another militant Trening M. Sangma, was also arrested based on the information given out by the ULFA cadre. Sangma hails from Purakhasia village, near Dalu in West Garo Hills.

The arrest of two militants spread like wild fire in Tura with rumours that Tura Super Market will be blown up. Police sprung into action and did a thorough check.  Of the seven entry and exist point, only two were opened for rest of the day.- From Our Correspondent
