SHILLONG, OCT 26: RK Chakravarty, a visually impared chess player from Meghalaya, stood 12th out of 73 participants in the recent concluded East Zone Chess Championship for Visually Handicapped 2016 held at Madati, West Bengal.

“We congratulated him for making us all very proud,” Meghalaya Chess Association (MCA) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The association informed Chakravarty has qualified to represent East Zone for the upcoming Nationals for Visually Challenged.

Meanwhile, the 17th North East Chess Championship 2016 will be held from January 25 to 29 next year at Agartala, Tripura and Under All India Chess Federation, a senior National Arbiter Exam will be held at Aizawl on November 3.
