Bomb hoax in the city

Shillong, August 12: Police went on a tizzy early Sunday morning when a suspicious looking miniature wooden cask was spotted in front of Baba Tourist Lodge opposite Broadway Hotel in Khyndailad (Police Bazaar).

The wooden cask with a logo of “Officer Choice” on both the sides was immediately secured and a bomb disposal squad immediately rushed to the spot and took the cask away. Much to the relieve of the police, the cask was empty.

With just three days away from Independence Day and report of the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) sneaking into the city from Bangladesh to try and disrupt the ID celebration, police have upped their antenna and intensified patrolling in the city. – By Our Reporter
