SHILL/TURA 9:  Meghalaya Governor KK Paul cast his vote for the Shillong Lok Sabha elections held on Wednesday at Orchid Hotel in Polo early in the morning while chief minister Mukul Sangma voted in his constituency in Ampati.

Former Lok Sabha speaker and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Purno Agitok Sangma also cast his vote at Walbakgre Lower Primary School accompanied by his daughter and sitting Tura MP Agatha K Sangma. His wife Soradini K Sangma, legislator son James K Sangma, former finance minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma, daughter-in-laws Jasmine Bonny A Sangma, Mehtab Chandee A Sangma and granddaughter, three years old Amara A Sangma accompanied him.

Momin, mother Muani Ch Momin and younger brother Issak William Momin.

Shillong Lok Sabha United Democratic Party (UDP) Paul Lyngdoh also cast his vote at Lower Mawprem accompanied by his wife Sweety Pala. Paul rival, Independent candidate PBM Basaiawmoit voted in Mawpat.

In Tura where there was a low turnout in the last parliamentary elections, voters turnout was huge as serpentine line were seen in most of the polling stations.

Cyclone hit areas of Dalu, Rimrangpara, Gambegre and adjoining areas also saw good turnout.

being accessed and relief camps have been set-up , the district administration is taking extra care to encourage the voters of the areas to vote despite the natural disaster.
