Cong to woo NE minorities

SHILLONG, NOV 2: The minority department of all India Congress Committee is preparing a strategy to attract Christians, Muslims, Bhuddhist and other religions minorities of North East India towards the Congress party. The department chairperson has entrusted Congress ideologue from Assam, Rejaul Karim Laskar to prepare this strategy after visiting all the eight states of north east and meeting state Congress presidents, CLP leaders and other Congress leaders.

Laskar is the former spokesperson of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.

As part of this exercise, Laskar on Wednesday met DD Lapang, president, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee at his official residence in Shilong.

Lapang gave some suggestions for AICC minority department which Laskar will include in his report.

Earlier Lapang met Hiranya Bora, Ex-MLA, former General Secretary, North East Congress Co-ordination Committee, and discussed strengthening of the NECCC.-By Our Reporter
