Delay in teachers ‘salary

SHILLONG, APR 17: State education department said that the delay in paying the salaries of the teachers is because most of the department’s officials had been deputed for recent Lok Sabha election duty.

The reason for delay was communicated to the schoolteachers under the Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) by the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL), the publicity secretary of the JAC BK Khongjirem informed.

Khongjirem  said the education department has promised to convene a meeting with the JAC once the model code of conduct is withdrawn and also clarify on the demands made by the teachers with regards to the provincialization of teachers under different categories based on comparative study from different states.

The teachers have decided to wait for release of their salaries till next week by the government.- By Our Reporter
