SHILLONG, APR 3: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary (in charge northeastern region) Luizinho Faleiro said party’s sitting MP Vincent H Pala is an “eloquent testimony of the best parliamentarian” while questioning the contributions made by former members of parliament (MPs) and former Lok Sabha speaker Purno Agitok Sangma from Meghalaya.

“We have got so many members of parliament (MPs) from Meghalaya including a former Lok Sabha speaker Purno Agitok Sangma, but what are their contributions to the state in the last five years  in term of development and progress, Pala has been an eloquent testimony and the best parliamentarian, an MP can be,” Faleiro praised Pala who is seeking reelection from the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.

Pointing out that the major projects (Shillong Bye Pass, Jorbat-Umiam Four Laning project and others) of the state which were once are dreams of the people, Faleiro told a news conference on Thursday, “Am proud to say, these projects are no longer just dreams but they have become realities due to better coordination between the centre and state and we would like this success to continue in the years to come.”

Faleiro informed that  Pala has got a road map, a mission and vision and will take Meghalaya to its old pristine glory. He claimed, “He has been directly responsible in monitoring major projects at the centre by supporting the state government here.”

Appealing to the people to reelect Pala and also vote for the Tura Congress candidate Faleiro said, “Congress has got more voice and I don’t know if other political parties’ candidates (regional) even have a roadmap, or is it just to reach Delhi.”

Falerio said, “Can you imagine one person in wilderness shouting out there (parliament) and also imagine Congress will be going out in groups demanding for the rights of people? It is up to the people now.”

So far as the agenda of development is concerned, Falerio said, “Vincent Pala is not alone as the other members from North East (11 unopposed) are with him.”

In Tura seat, Falerio said that the Congress has decided to field the youngest candidate Daryl William Cherran Momin, the grandson of first chief minister Captain Williamson Sangma against veteran Purno A Sangma of National People’s Party (NPP) because India is young as 65 per cent of its population is people below 35 years.- By Our Reporter
