FB threat:Ultras involved

SHILLONG, NOV 24: Two jailed GNLA militants were also brought to Shillong on Monday for posting message on Facebook threatening to kill one of the police officers of East Khasi hills district and his family.

Solly Ch. Sangma (31) of Nikwatgre Najing Bazar and Johny A Marak (21) of Tura who are GNLA militants and lodged in Tura District Jail were brought to Shillong for interrogation on the case, East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said.

Kharkhrang informed that the two had on October 13 posted a message on Facebook with fake name Salgro Areng  ‘Meg Pol V/s public’,  threatening  to kill one of the police  officers of the district and his family as he is involved in operational duties. The two also claimed that they knew the details of his home address.

Kharkhrang said  a suo moto case was taken up by the police during investigation it was ascertained that the threat was uploaded from Tura district jail.

Search warrant was received from district court in Shillong and on Monday morning, a police team from Shillong along with Tura police conducted a search  of the Tura district jail. During the search nothing was found, Kharkhrang said.

However, it was learnt from the jail authority that 3(three) days back, a search was conducted by them and they recovered 5(five) mobile sets.  On verifying it was found that one of the mobile was actually used for sending the threat message through Facebook, Kharkhrang added.- By Our Reporter
