File affidavit on job scam

SHILLONG, SEPT 29: The Meghalaya High Court on Thursday directed the state government to file an affidavit with regards to the infamous 2009-education job scam unearthed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The order came after Amicus Curiae K Paul and the state counsel P Nongbri submitted before the court during the hearing that the issue involved in this case has already been brought to the notice of the Supreme Court.

According to the two, as such, the case filed by Civil Society Women Organization (CSWO) president Agnes Kharshiing cannot continue simultaneously.

A Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed on the same case related to the education scam is still pending before the Supreme Court.

The High Court in its order issued on Thursday said, “If it is so, state counsel is directed to file an affidavit in this regard.” It also fixed the matter for hearing on October 3.

Kharshiing in her petition had sought the court’s intervention into the inaction of state police on the FIRs that was filed with regards to the education job scam.-By Our Reporter
