SHILLONG, JULY 31: Fredrick Kharmawphlang, the self-styled organizing and political secretary of the HNLC surrendered before the Meghalaya police. During his surrender, his parents and some KSU members were also present.
Kharmawphlang, who was the KSU vice president, joined the banned HNLC in February, 2014 when the ILP agitation was at its peak in Khasi hills.After joining HNLC, he was appointed as its organizing and political secretary.
He stayed in Putisara, a Khasi Village in Bangladesh, bordering India.
He disclosed to police and to his parents that he got disillusioned with HNLC leadership in Bangladesh as they were into immoral activities at the cost of Khasi people. Soon he has realized bleak future for HNLC because of its leadership and decided to return to Shillong to surrender himself before the police in the presence of his parents.- By Our Reporter
