Joint meeting held

SHILLONG, FEB 21: The General Observer of 58-Rongara Siju, 59-Chokpot and 60-Baghmara Legislative Assembly Constituencies, Dr Rupesh Kumar, IAS convened a joint meeting with the Zonal and Sector officers of both civil and police officers today at DRDA Hall, Baghmara.

As the date for General Election draws closer, Dr Rupesh Kumar reviews the poll preparedness for the upcoming General Election on 27th February, 2018. He also informed the poll officials to pay special attention on hourly report system and also to check the voting compartment to ensure the secrecy of the voters. While making special mention on the instruction of Election Commission of India, Dr. Kumar informed that candidates can use only three vehicles during the polling day in all the polling stations.

Reiterating the role and responsibilities of the zonal/sector officers of both civil and police officers, he said that everyone should know their respective role and perform their duties well and to maintain a good coordination between civil and police officers.

Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills District, Shri A. T. Sangma informed that they are doing their best to ensure proper law and order situation in the District.

During the briefing, the District Election Officer, South Garo Hills District, S. N. Marak informed about the three polling stations that would be used for webcasting viz, Dabitbibra Polling Station, Bolsal Ading Polling Station and Rangku Memorial Girls Secondary School and All Women Polling Stations viz, Reserve Gittim Polling Station under 58-Rongara Siju Legislative Assembly Constituency, Dobogre Govt. Lower Primary School under 59-Chokpot Legislative Assembly Constituency and Rangku Memorial Secondary School under 60-Baghmara Legislative Assembly Constituency.

She further informed that Reserve Gittim Lower Primary School under 58-Rongara Siju Legislative Assembly Constituency, Dobogre Lower Primary School under 59-Chokpot Legislative Assembly Constituency and Rangku Memorial Secondary School under 60-Baghmara Legislative Assembly Constituency has been listed as Model Polling Stations under South Garo Hills District.

C. N. Sangma, Returning Officer of 58-Rongara Siju and 60-Baghmara Constituencies and Z. J. Sangma, Returning Officer of 59-Chokpot Constituency asked the poll officials to adhere strictly to the model code of conduct and to work more enthusiastically while being the part of this gigantic exercise. Further, Issac K. Sangma EAC I/c Transport cell also briefed on the issues relating to vehicles, traffic route etc.
