SHILLONG, JAN 18: Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for allotment of over 500 square meter plot of land to the Shillong College for educational purposes. Addressing newsmen after the first cabinet meeting of the year on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Revenue RC Laloo said that the government had received a proposal from the Principal of Shillong College for allotment of land.

The deputy commissioner was asked to file a report on the matter, which was done accordingly.

“As per the report, the area measuring 587.78 sq m under Plot 62 at Laitumkhrah Ward is a vacant plot, which is also adjacent to the College,” Laloo said.

He said that the department after seeking the views of the law and education departments, had placed the proposal before the cabinet as both the departments had not objection to allocation of this land to Shillong college.

“We are thankful to the government for approving the proposal for allotment of the land to the college, which will be utilized for educational purposes,” the deputy chief minister said.
