State awards to three

SHILLONG, JAN 18: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved three names of eminent personalities as recipients of the prestigious Meghalaya Day awards. Addressing newsmen after the meeting, chief minister Mukul Sangma said, “We have approved the names of the awardees recommended by the advisory committee headed by chief secretary.”

The U Tirot Sing Syiem Award for Arts and Culture will be conferred to Sumar Sing Sawian, a renowned Khasi writer and journalist, Patogan Sangma Award for Social Services to Lender K Marak and Kiang Nangbah Award for Sports to Dolin Kharbhih, he said.
