SHILLONG, DEC 12: Khrawbok Marweiñ of Mawlai Iewrynghep brought laurel to Meghalaya and India as he clinched gold medal at World Championship of World Martial Arts Council Games 2016 on Monday in Delhi at Jamia Milia Islamia University Sports Complex.

He won against his final opponent from Iran. From Meghalaya six martial arts athletes represented India. One from Garo hills, two from Mawlai Iewrynghep and three from Ri Bhoi.

The rest will play their bouts by tomorrow.

While congratulating Marwein, Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma said, “It is indeed a proud moment for all of us. I congratulate Khrawbok Marwein for his achievement and wish him many more victories in the future.

Sangma said may Marwein inspire more of youths of the state to strive forward towards their goal and succeed in making the state and nation proud. He said he takes this opportunity to reaffirm his government’s commitment to ensure that no stone is left unturned in supporting the talented and dedicated sportspersons of the state.
