Tura MP met Gadkari

IMG-20171026-WA0005SHILLONG, OCT 26: MP Lok Sabha Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday met Union Minister Road and Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari at New Delhi and sought his intervention for improvement of National Highways for the state of Meghalaya.

He has drawn the attention of Gadkari to look at improvement of NH-62 from Pattargittim to Dalu, NH-51 from Tura to Dalu, road from Baghmara to Ranikor (South West Khasi Hills) via Maheskola and Mahadeo and conversion of NEC road Agia to Dalu via Phulbari and Singimari to National Highway.

Conrad apprised Gadkari on the condition of the road from Tura to Baghmara, the District Headquarter of South Garo Hills, which is in a deplorable state.

He informed the Union Minister that in absence of good and proper road connecting South Garo Hills, along the strategic international border with Bangladesh, the district of South Garo Hills has failed to reap benefits of development.

He informed the Union Minister that poor road across South Garo Hills and road link from South Garo Hills connecting to South West Khasi Hills needs immediate attention as the people have to face a lot of hardship.

“The pathetic condition of the road has made people lost hope in the Government. The people of Meghalaya are frustrated and angry. People from Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills have raised their concern about the road and have asked me to apprise the Union Government to pay its attention to improve the roads in the state of Meghalaya”, Conrad told Gadkari in his deliberation.

The Union Minister has assured that the matter would be considered and would be look into.
