The Meghalaya High Court on Monday observed that there is hardly any improvement in regards to the traffic congestion despite steps taken which include the engagement of professional agencies.
Hearing a PIL on the matter, the bench comprising Chief Justice (Acting) HS Thangkhiew and Justice W Diengdoh said, “It has also been brought to the notice of the Court that numerous reports have been filed with regard to the status of the traffic and steps that have been taken , which include the engagement of professional agencies to enable traffic management.”
“However, the situation as it pertains on the ground, there seems to be hardly any improvement. In that view of the matter after the affidavit is filed by the petitioner, the matter shall be taken up for further consideration,” it said.
The bench also said that it is noted that the names of certain persons has been submitted by the learned senior counsel for the petitioner for consideration to be the independent members of the Decongestion Committee, the same is taken on board and will be considered on the next date on December 1.
