SHILLONG, JAN 29: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar is gearing up for a crucial meeting with the Sports and Youth Affairs department tomorrow to discuss preparations for the 39th National Games.
The meeting, to be held with Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, will focus on key issues like parking lots and the game village.
Dhar emphasized the importance of cleanliness ahead of the Games, stating that awareness programs will be conducted in localities to promote cleanliness.
“We want cleanliness, cleanliness in the city no one can do it (alone) but everyone can do it (together),” he said.
The government plans to repair damaged footpaths and railings and set up signboards requesting people to keep Shillong clean.
The meeting aims to identify requirements for accommodation and parking spaces in Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills, and Shillong city.
Dhar has requested completion of parking lot construction within 2026.
