SHILLONG, MAR 11: The South West Garo Hills administration has barred government employees from posting or sharing messages, photos or videos that could inflame communal sentiment while violence over GHADC elections smoulders in neighboring districts.

Deputy Commissioner Anendya Raajsshre issued an order on Wednesday directing all department heads to ensure staff “exercise restraint” on personal social‑media accounts.

The order further states that government employees should refrain from posting or commenting on law and order incidents occurring in other districts or states in a manner that could influence public sentiment, ideology, or trigger reactions among sections of society, which may aggravate the already sensitive situation.

The directive applies to all government offices in South West Garo Hills, and Heads of Offices have been instructed to ensure strict compliance among their staff.

The order also warned that any violation will attract legal action under relevant laws in addition to disciplinary proceedings under the Meghalaya Civil Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 2019.
