SHILLONG, FEB 9: Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar on Monday felicitated the players of the All Meghalaya Kick-Boxing Association (AMKA) who will represent the State and the Nation at the prestigious Asia Pacific Open Kickboxing Championship 2026 at Bali, Indonesia from February 24 to 28.
The Governor congratulated the team for their dedication, discipline, and wishes them for a commendable performance on the global stage.
He lauded their hard work and perseverance, stating that their participation in an international tournament of such repute has brought pride and recognition to Meghalaya.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the All Meghalaya Kick-Boxing Association in nurturing talent across the State and providing a platform for youth to excel in competitive sports.
He emphasized that sports not only build physical strength but also cultivate mental resilience, character, and leadership qualities among young people.
Highlighting the importance of sports in shaping a progressive and confident society, the Governor encouraged the athletes to continue striving for excellence and to serve as role models for aspiring sportspersons in Meghalaya.
