SHILLONG, JULY 3: The Meghalaya high court has admitted the petition filed by the CMJ University challenging the recommendation of the outgoing Meghalaya governor to dissolve the university in accordance with Section 48 of the CMJ University Act, 2009. Legal advisor of CMJ foundation SP Sharma told reporters on Wednesday, “We have submitted the petition for quashing of the FIR that was lodged by the visitor (Governor).”
Sharma claimed the visitor (Governor) who is the head of the state machinery cannot recommend the dissolution of the university even under CMJ Act.
The state CID sealed the CMJ University after Mooshahary had filed an FIR with the police pointing out various illegalities of the university after which it was sealed. Some of the officials have been arrested but the CMJ University self style chancellor CM Jha is still at large. – By Our Reporter
