SHILLONG, FEB 13: The North Eastern states of India are one step closer to being fully connected by rail, with the government eager to extend the network to the remaining three states.
Bihar MLC and convener of Budget Publicity Campaign for North East, Devesh Kumar, stressed that local support is crucial for this initiative.
Speaking in Shillong, Kumar highlighted the recent connection of Mizoram to the rail network, calling it a “boon”.
“Prime minister wants each and every state to be connected by the rail network, but this has to be done with the help of the local population,” he said.
Kumar revealed that the government is “more than willing” to extend the rail network, but needs cooperation from the local population.
BJP national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi echoed this sentiment, stating, “The work has begun… we will ensure that is supplemented and we really hope all states are connected.”
Ilmi emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, saying, “We are completely dedicated and committed to it”.
