SHILLONG, FEB 9:Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced the state government’s decision to constitute a Judicial Inquiry Commission to investigate the tragic mining incident in Mynsngat-Thangsko area, East Jaintia Hills, where 27 mine workers lost their lives in an illegal coal mine blast.
“The Government has decided to constitute a Judicial Inquiry Commission under the Commission of Inquiry Act to investigate the recent tragic mining incident,” Sangma said in his social media post on Monday.
Two mine owners, Forme Chyrmang (36) and Shamehi War (42), have been arrested and remanded to three days police custody.
Authorities are verifying details, completing identification procedures, and continuing search, investigation, and legal proceedings.
