SHILLONG, OCT 15: The state government has directed the education department to come up with an action plan for implementing the recommendations of the Meghalaya State Education Commission (MSEC).

Informing this after chairing a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said the MSEC report was presented before cabinet for detailed discussion.

“The MSEC report was accepted by the cabinet. (Accordingly), the education department has been asked to go through each of the recommendation and come up with actionable (plans) and the way forward,” he told reporters.

“(After this), then the cabinet will decide on how we will move forward in the implementation of the report and suggestions being given by this commission,” Sangma added.

The Meghalaya State Education Commission was constituted to recommend reforms aligning the state’s education system with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The MSEC report, submitted earlier, outlines recommendations on key areas such as school consolidation, higher education reform, teacher training, student performance, and structural transformation across the sector.
