Narcotics haul: 2 arrested in Lumshnong

SHILLONG, OCT 15: Two persons including a member of an inter-state gang were arrested with suspected narcotics at Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills district.

The operation was conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on October 14 based oncredible information about suspected person travelling in a car from Silchar, Assam, suspected to be carrying illegal narcotics.

Acting promptly on this input, a team led by Umkiang Patrol Post set up naka and apprehended Abdul Rob Laskar alias Munna (22) from Kabuganj , Silchar, Kachar, Assam.

Later with the help of the ANTF, Meghalaya apprehended another habitual offender and co-accused Asif Wahlang of Hari Sabha Laban, Shillong.

Five soap boxes (60 grams) and one (1) vehicle B/r no AS-01-EJ-8977 (Hyundai Venue) were recovered from their possession.

Accordingly, a case has been registered at Lumshnong Police Station under the NDPS Act, and investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Jaintia Hills Vikash Kumar has urged anyone with information about the narcotics trade to come forward and contact the local police station. Identities will be kept secret, and suitable rewards will be given.
