SHILLONG, OCT 29: AICC in-charge for Meghalaya, Dr A Chellakumar on Wednesday said there is no plan to replace Vincent Pala as the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president.
According to him, there is no vacancy in the position.
Asked about Pala’s leadership, Dr Chellakumar defended him, saying, “How can you say that? Because somebody left the Congress party, it doesn’t mean that it is a failure of leadership.”
He added that those who leave the party are often driven by personal interests and that the Congress is not here to “fix a prize for some individuals.”
Dr. Chellakumar praised Pala, saying that he is a loyal and dedicated Congressman who has served as a minister in the Union government and is working hard as PCC president.
“Today, people who left the Congress are coming back, and those who served the state in different fields are also joining the party, accepting Vincent Pala’s leadership,” he said.
The AICC in-charge emphasized that the Congress party puts the nation first and is open to welcoming back those who have realized their mistakes and want to serve the people. “We are not here to purchase anybody like other political parties,” he said.
“By accepting the principles of the Congress party, anybody can join the party.”
