SHILLONG, DEC 8: The district administration of East Garo Hills has issued a notification advising residents, institutions, and businesses to take safety measures to prevent stray dog incidents in public and private areas, in compliance with a Supreme Court order.
The notification, issued by the Deputy Commissioner, requests cooperation from all residents, institutions, shops, and locality bodies to ensure safety from stray dog incidents.
“The district administration urges all stakeholders to take immediate action to prevent stray dog incidents and ensure public safety,” the notification states.
The advisory includes several measures, such as not feeding stray dogs inside or near hospitals, schools, markets, bus stands, or residential lanes, securing homes from entry of stray dogs, reporting any aggressive dogs, dog-bite incidents, or sightings of stray dogs within schools, hospitals, and markets, and not leaving food waste in open areas.
The administration has urged all government and private institutions, business establishments, households, and other stakeholders to take these measures to prevent stray dog incidents and ensure public safety.
