TURA, JULY 25: Two Meghalaya policemen  identified as constable Arphuis Khymdiet and driver Lambarthu Suchiang died and another one was seriously injured when an  IED exploded at Tebronggre, near Rongram, about 18 km from Tura in West Garo hills district on Friday.

The cops were on a regular police patrolling in a Gypsy along Rongram – Dadenggre route.

At about 5 pm, the IED exploded killing one in spot, the other died in a Tura civil hospital.

Police suspects that the planting of the IED is the handiwork of GNLA. While the two policemen died, the third one Rahul Marak is critically injured and is being rushed to Guwahati for further medical treatment.

West Garo hills SP Mukesh Singh said, “Five police personnel were in a gypsy on a regular patrolling, when an IED explosion took place. Our teams have gone to the spot and we are waiting for details“.- By Our Reporter
