TURA, OCT 24: A two-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her own uncle and is undergoing treatment at a hospital but is said to be in critical condition. The child was raped by the accused identified as Antonis Ch. Marak( 45 ) while the victim’s parents were at a nearby paddy field.
The incident took place on October 22.
“Based on victim’s father FIR, the accused was arrested on the same day”, said additional West Garo hills ASP Bruno A. Sangma. The incident took place in a remote Kherapara village in West Garo Hills.
After committing the heinous crime, the accused fled to Bolchugre village, near Tura, when the police arrested him on October 22. He was produced in the court yesterday and has been sent on a 14 day judicial custody.
“The rape has been so severe that the child has been crying through the day. An operation would be performed on her”, said a doctor.
The two-year-old victim’s mother said, “We were in the nearby field and left the child with my brother. When we return, we found the child crying and bleeding. We were shocked to see our daughter in such state and brought her immediately to Tura”.
West Garo hills deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi expressed shock over the incident and has assured all help to the victim’s family. “We are monitoring the case. If required, we will shift her to Guwahati for further medical aid,” he said.- From Our Correspondent
