BSF intensify patrolling

SHILLONG, APR 8: The BSF said special operations have been launched along the Indo-Bangla international borders besides sealing it to ensure for peaceful Lok Sabha elections in the state slated to be held on Wednesday.

The BSF has increased the vigilance in border area of the state along Bangladesh and special operations have also been launched to prevent unwanted persons from infiltrating to create problems, BSF officials said on Tuesday.

“Special emphasis has been given to Garo Hills Districts,” the official informed.

Eight companies have been deployed in state of Meghalaya and Mizoram to ensure peaceful polls.

“Besides duties on border, twelve companies of BSF Meghalaya Frontier are also deployed in north east for conducting of free and fair poll in State,” official said.

The BSF strength on border has been augmented and senior officers with all paraphernalia including medical, communication and motor transport are camping at border outposts.

Based on lists of sensitive polling booths falling along Indo-Bangla border and intelligence inputs, special patrolling and other operation are conducted by BSF troops in coordination with the police to create a sense of security among the voters of state, the official concluded.- By Our Reporter
