SHILLONG, FEB 12:Justice Tarun Agarwala today sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

The oath of office to Justice Tarun Agarwala was administered by the Governor Ganga Prasad at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday.

Justice Agarwala was appointed as the new CJ of the Meghalaya High Court by the President of India on February 6.

The new chief justice replaced Justice Dinesh Maheshwari who was transferred to Karnataka High Court and will take charge as its chief justice.

The Meghalaya High Court was established in March 2013, after making suitable amendments in the Constitution of India and North-Eastern Areas Act 1971.
