2-Day Ideating workshop

SHILLONG, MAR 19: A two-day Ideating Workshop on Appropriate and Sustainable Technology for Rural Areas was held on Thursday at the State Convention Centre organized by the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD).

Speaking at the inaugural function, Meghalaya Community and Rural Development (C&RD) principal secretary KN Kumar highlighted the importance of organizing such workshops. “Northeast is a different ball game, there is potential, scope and space for innovations”, he said.

Kumar said that the availability of resources and the induction of latest technologies can be utilized for greater good of the people in the rural areas. He also said that no known technology can be fully utilized unless it is developed at par with the current generation and that such technologies should be grounded and rendered fully functional whereby developmental and innovative ideas can be brought not only for Meghalaya but for the whole of northeastern states.

The workshop aim is to help establish the Meghalaya State Rural Technology and Livelihood Promotion Centre (MSRTLPC) at Nongbah Myrdon.

The inaugural session was followed by a series of sessions wherein various topics such as Case for Establishing a Rural Technology Centre in MeghalayaThe conceptualization of a Rural Technology Park etc. were discussed. Thereafter the second session saw the Presentation by the Technology Developers.

C&RD director Akash Deep,  joint secretary IR Sangma, , SIRD director T Lyngwa were among others who are present at the workshop.- By Our Reporter
