GSU leader released

SHILLONG, MAR 13: The Garo Students Union (GSU) leader Dreambirth Momin who was kidnapped by suspected Achik National Liberation Army (ANLA) was released unharmed on Thursday afternoon by his captors.

The kidnapping of Momin had sent shockwave in the entire Garo hills as he remained untraced for many days giving anxious moments to his family members and his colleagues.

GSU central executive committee general secretary John Miltu A Sangma said, “Kidnapping leader of the GSU is a very wrong act and we condemn the kidnapping. Thankfully he has come back to his home unhurt.”

Sangma also said the act of kidnapping a civil society leader is despicable. He said, “ Civil society member should not be held to ransom.”.

There has not been any report of whether a ransom was paid for the release of the GSU leader.

Later on Thursday evening, East Garo hills ngos members paid a visit to the family of Momin to show their solidarity and also find out about his well being.- By Our Reporter
