Accused identification soon

SHILLONG, AUG 28: The identification parade to identify the accused that allegedly molested a 27-year-old mentally challenged woman at Tura earlier this year is likely to take place in the first week of September.West Garo Hills deputy commissioner Pravin Baskshi informed on Wednesday that the identification parade were earlier postponed owing to several factors including law and order situation and frequent bandhs.

It was on June 21 when few migrant labourers from Assam allegedly molested a girl at Tura that led to violence in certain parts of Garo Hills including Assam Meghalaya border in which few people were attacked and also killed.

The two juveniles who have been arrested in connection with the alleged molestation are kept in a juvenile home at Shillong .

Surprisingly, none of the arrested juveniles have moved for bail.

Pravin Bakshi further informed that the police are yet to file chargesheet into the matter.

The main accused who was involved in the incident managed to flee from Garo Hills soon after the incident.

Bakshi said that there are some inputs that two of the juveniles are not involved in the incident but inputs are needed for verifications.-  By Our Reporter
