SHILLONG, OCT 23: Garo Students’ Union (GSU) leader has lodged a complaint against West Garo Hills additional deputy commissioner for allegedly filing a false complaint against him when he was seeking information through RTI.
In the counter FIR, GSU Mindikgre regional unit president Grenth M Sangma said, “The Additional Deputy Commissioner, ZI Sangma, who is also the member secretary DSC, West Garo hills district had lodged a false FIR against me U/S 185 IPC for seeking the information of his department through RTI Act, 2005.”
In September 18, Greneth had submitted his RTI application to the Public Information Officer (PIO) District Selection Committee (DSC) West Garo hills on the appointments to the posts of Gram-Sevak and Gram-Sevika from 2010 to 2015.
Stating that he had not done anything wrong by filing the RTI, Greneth said, “I am a bonafide citizen of Garo hills by birth and an Indian citizen, I have the right and liberty to seek information according to the provision prescribed to all the citizens as per the law provides U/S 3 of RTI Act, 2005.”
According to him, he had filed for the information according to the provision of RTl by the paying the prescribed fees.
“I have no malafide intension but for transparency I filed for information on September 18, for the public interest and for the interest of justice,” he added.
Greneth,therefore, urged the authority concerned to look into the issue and punish the culprit for the offence he has committed under U/S ZUFA6/L66/776 IPC R/W Sec 18{b)/18(c} of the RTI Act of 2005 and for the harassment and mental torture by filing the false information before the police department and by misusing his power.- By Our Reporter
