Adventure tourism for school students

Shillong, Oct 20: The Meghalaya tourism department is celebrating the “Year of the Youth” 2012 by conducting programmes and packages in adventure tourism for 340 schools in the state with 5 participants from each school from October 2012 onwards.

The programmes have been organized in coordination with Pioneer Adventure Tours and Campfire Trails.

The activities include kayaking, camping, rappelling, mountain biking, rock climbing, zip lining, snorkeling, river rafting and village tour. The objective of the programme is to provide the youth with the opportunity of experiencing varied outdoor activities and acquaint themselves with eco friendly surrounding.

The purpose for conducting this programme is to educate the youth on the benefit of nature and the value of preservation and conservation of our eco system along with fun, learning and adventure. – By Our Reporter
