AGANWADI – indefinite strike

SHILLONG, JUNE 7: The All Garo Hills Anganwadi Workers’ and Helpers’ Association (AGHAWA) has decided to go ahead with its proposed indefinite strike, if the government fails to pay their monthly honourarium by June 15.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, AGHAWA general secretary MD Shira said, “We have waited for more than nine months without monthly honourarium. the situation has compelled us to resort to take up the indefinite strike.”

He informed that time and again the leaders of the association had met the department officers and even ministers only to hear their verbal assurances.

The other demands include – the foodstuff and its Challan must reach at the same time, complaint against food – Rice Poha, Moong Dal Halwa, Cereal weaning food (Children rejected these food items as they are of bad quality) and uniforms for the workers – green wrapround and white blouse for anganwadi and and blue wrapround and white blouse for the helpers.
