ANVC.B slams gov’t over package

SHILLONG, AUG 3: Disbanded ANVC.B today accused the state government of trying to sabotage the implementation of the Agreed Text of Settlement as it will empower the autonomous district councils with complete autonomy.

In a statement issued here, former chairman of ANVC.B Bernard N Marak said it is disheartening to say that the state government intentionally delays the rehabilitation packages for its cadres.

He said the State representative was decided in the last Central level monitoring committee meeting to speed up the process and submit the list of cadres eligible to avail the packages within one month

“But till today we did not receive any intimation. It is an act of atrocity and harassment which is openly shown by the State representatives who did not comply with the decision made at the meeting at Delhi on June 21,” he added.

He said that the GHADC not being able to pay salary is because of stupidity of the former members who handles over all revenue generating departments to the State for political interest which now disgrace the autonomy of the Council.

“This is intentionally being done to abolish Council so that implementation of the Agreed Text cannot be implemented,” Marak alleged while stating that the ANVC.B is being targeted because it knows the basic ingredients of the Agreed Text in detail.
