ANVC (B) warns of violent 2013 election

Shillong, Oct 12: The A’chik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) –B has warned that the 2013 Meghalaya assembly election will not be “peaceful” in Garo hills as some politicians are procuring weapons to be used during election.

In a statement issued to the media Sunday, the outfit warned sophisticated weapons are making way into Garo hills. Its read, “Sophisticated weapons that sneaked into Garo Hills in last couple of months were not procured by revolutionary groups” but “by gangs sponsored by politicians.”

Claiming that the ANVC(B) has knowledge about the procurement through its network it also asserted that it knows to whom those weapons went to and the strategies the leaders are planning in the election.

Warning of the possibility of violent election in 2013, the ANVC-B called upon the people to be alert.

The outfit also claimed that the secret operations against ANVC-B cadres have begun, it said, “Government is trying to silence ANVC-B as most politicians see the breakaway faction as a hurdle in implementing their plans in the upcoming election.”- By Our Reporter
