Shillong, Oct 29: The ANVC (B) said that it would send appeals to various leaders to play positive role in transforming Garo hills and bring about peace.
In a statement issued Monday, the ANVC(B) said, “It is high time that people should come out and take initiative to bring peace and normalcy in Garo Hills.”.
The outfit said that it is sending notes to various leaders of the society who they believe can play a vital role in transforming Garo hills without bloodshed. According to the outfit there is no point waiting for the politicians to solve the issues concerning Garo hills because all they can do is take time and delay.
The statement said, “In last 5 years, politicians did not even try to sit together to discuss issues concerning Garo hills. They have failed miserably to bring peace and ensure security to the common people”
With the state election round the corner, the ANVC(B) appealed to the people of the region to evaluate each candidate before casting their votes even as it said it is ‘US’ not them, who make Leaders.-By Our Reporter
