SHILLONG, JAN 27: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit who has been given additional charges of looking after the office of Meghalaya’s governor will be sworn in on Saturday He takes over after V Shanmuganathan was forced to resign after being accused of converting the Shillong Raj Bhavan as a “Ladies Club.” Shanmuganathan put in his papers yesterday after the Raj Bhavan staffs shot off a memorandum to the Prime Minister accusing him of various misconducts including turning the famous Shillong Raj Bhavan into young ladies club.”
Raj Bhavan secretariat secretary HM Shangplaing confirmed that Purohit will take addition charge of the office of Meghalaya’s governor.
The memorandum came after a local English newspaper Highland Post exposed a scandal of how Shanmuganathan was guilty of molesting a job aspirant for a PRO post in the Raj Bhavan.
