Bangla- NE flights

SHILLONG, JAN 29: The Bangladesh government has approved the proposal of the Bangladesh Biman Airlines to fly its flights twice weekly from Dhaka to Guwahati in Assam from July 1.

Bangladesh high commissioner to India Tariq A Karim told reporters on Thursday, “I am happy to say that Bangladesh Biman Airlines officers called on me last week and informed that they will start weekly flights from Dhaka to Guwahati twice in a week from July 1.”

Karim said initially the Bangladesh Biman Airlines would initially use their ATR aircrafts for the routes but are likely to use improved aircrafts like the Boeing 737 in the future depending on the economic feasibility of the route.

At present, Karim said, the Airlines has sought more aircrafts. He also informed that India’s Jet Airways, which had earlier scrapped off their scheduled flights between Dhaka and Guwahati in October 2012, has also shown interest in resuming from the same routes.- By Our Reporter
