BJP state president Rikman G Momin on Monday announced the names of the state office bearers even as he said that the party is geared up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the media, Momin said there are some candidates, who have approached the party for ticket from Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats. “However, I will not be able to name them right now but the Centre will announce the candidates,” he said.

Asked, Momin said that cabinet minister AL  Hek has expressed his interest to contest from Shillong parliamentary seat but it is up to the Central leadership. “But my duty is to forward the names of those who are applying for it,” he added.

Further, he said the party would welcome any woman candidate to apply for a ticket.

“As BJP, it is good if the party can put up women candidates because recently 33% reservation for women has been implemented,” Momin said.

Refusing to comment on the performance of the sitting Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala, the  BJP state president however expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the sitting NPP MP from Tura Agatha K Sangma.
