BJP in Jaintia Hills slam move to oust Mawrie

SHILLONG, DEC 24: The BJP West Jaintia Hills District has slammed a few of the party dissidents, who are campaigning for ousting the state president Ernest Mawrie.

The action by the dissidents was discussed during the executive committee meeting held under the chairmanship of the BJP WJHD president Chaprang Lyngdoh in the presence of the state general secretary Sing Mulieh and executive members at Jowai, the district headquarters.

Members during the meeting expressed that it has never crossed their minds for mass resignation.

They said that it was under the leadership of Ernest Mawrie that the party is progressing more than ever today.

“His (Mawrie) dynamic personality instills a sense of responsibility in Morcha and Mandal leaders to win maximum number of seats in the upcoming election,” said a statement issued by the party.

“Accusing the BJP leader Mawrie is in no way justified as he has made drastic changes to revive the party as a fighting force with his commitment and determination.

It is our collective responsibility to work together for the party instead of making attacks on unnecessary issues,” it said.

Meanwhile, the members of the party in both West Jaintia and East Jaintia Hills have also expressed their confidence in the leadership of Ernest Mawrie.
