BJP lauds health workers

SHILLONG, APR 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday urged the state government to utilize the fund sanctioned by the central government generously to address the present crisis arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BJP state president Ernest Mawrie in a statement issued here said the party also requested the state government to support the needy people through the schemes declared by the Central Labour department.

“(We) also urge upon all the MLAs to utilise equally the Rs 25 lakhs from their MLA funds to all the localities under their Constituency and also see that the poor people are not deprived in this hour of crisis,” Mawrie said as he appealed to the citizens to remain indoor and maintain social distancing.

The state BJP further lauded the central government especially the Ministry of Health and family Welfare for supporting the frontline health workers in the state with PPEs and also providing additional equipments to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion of the national health day, the party has also expressed thanks and gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and health workers for working tirelessly and risking their lives to help others.

“We also request them to encourage everyone to maintain social distancing during the lockdown free period,” Mawrie said.

He said the BJP also extended its heartfelt gratitude and praise to all the traditional heads of the various dorbar shnong and seng samla shnong who have selflessly worked and volunteered to help others in this time of crisis and need by supporting the government to reach out to the poor people with various schemes sponsored by the central government led by Narendra Modi. “Arrangements made by them in their respective localities also deserve appreciation,” the president remarked.

The BJP further appreciate the role of the district administration, the police and the village defence party who are also leaving no stone unturned to keep vigilance on social distancing, law and order during the lockdown period.
