SHILLONG, APR 22: Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday felt that the people are the best judge to decide whether the BJP led NDA II coalition government in the centre is lopsided in releasing funds to the Congress ruled states.

“The manner in which the centre is focusing and spending huge funds itself is evidence… it is for the people to decide,” Dr Singh told reporters at the sideline of a cancer campaign launched in the city on Saturday.

Reacting to the allegations leveled by the Congress ruled-states against the alleged partial attitude adopted by the NDA led government at the centre, he refused to dwelt further on the allegations stating that the Congress allegations is baseless.

Refuting the Congress led state governments allegation that there is dearth of funds, he only said, “How is this (campaign) happening if there are no funds. Where are all the money coming from, it is coming from somewhere, where is this somewhere, it is from Government of India.”

Speaking on the issue of bad connectivity, Dr Singh said, “We are aware of lack of connectivity and this creates problems in carrying forward other programmes as well.” Stating that Shillong deserved an airport, he said that the ministry is working out in tandem with the state government.

“We are also taking it up with Ministry of Aviation,” he added.- By Our Reporter
