BJP reiterates demand for Ind inquiry

SHILLONG, SEP 3: The BJP is yet to denotify the appointment of arrested Tura MDC Bernard N Marak as state vice president of the party.

Informing this on Saturday, BJP national president and Meghalaya in-charge Dr Chuba Ao said, “We have not yet given any denotification because the matter is (still pending) in the court.”

“Till today the matter is in the court so let the court give justice after that we will think of it,” he added.

Reiterating the party’s demand for an independent inquiry into the entire episode that led to the arrest of Marak, Dr Ao said, “We have asked for an independent inquiry because one side is the government and one side is he himself.”

Stating that the law enforcer should not be biased, the BJP leader said, “When they are in the chair, their arms can be twisted anytime.”

He said the party is also trying to find out the truth behind the arrest of the leader even as he expressed confidence that only the court is the right judge to ensure justice is delivered.

Marak was arrested on charges that he was running a brothel in his private farm house ‘Rimpu Bagan’. However, the BJP had alleged political vendetta behind the incident.
