BJP to celebrate 9 years of Modi govt

SHILLONG, MAY 18: The state BJP on Thursday decided to celebrate the nine years of Narendra Modi government and to strengthen the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

 

The decision was taken at the state executive committee meeting chaired by the state president Ernest Mawrie.

 

The meeting was attended by national vice president and Meghalaya in-charge M Chuba Ao, MLA Sanbor Shullai, seven-member state team and members of the district committees.

 

“Today, I have briefed them about the celebration of the nine years of Modi government which will be held from May 30 to June 30,” Mawrie said.

 

He said the month-long programme will include virtual rally on May 29, observing death anniversary of the BJP founding president S Prasad Mukherjee, observing yoga day on June 21 and VC on June 30.

 

He said the central ministers would also be visiting the state as part of the celebration.

 

Meanwhile, Mawrie informed that the main agenda of the meeting was also to strengthen the party in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

 

“First is to strengthen the party and to reach out to the beneficiaries with the central schemes. After that we will see,” he said.

 

Mawrie informed that the former Mawsynram MLA Himalaya M Shangpliang has expressed keen interest to contest the Lok Sabha election but the decision will be taken by the central leadership.
