BJP to “chargesheet” Mukul

SHILLONG, APR 21: The BJP today threatened to come up with a charge-sheet to expose the “wrong doings” of the Congress led state government as it predicts the chief minister to lose from his own seat in 2018 in view that Meghalaya is the worst performing states in North East region.

“We will soon come out with a charge-sheet against the Dr Mukul Sangma led state government,” BJP top leader in North East region Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters after the 5th SEC meeting of BJP Meghalaya held here on Friday.

“The charge sheet will reflect the complete mismanagement of governance, corruptions, under-development and also many personal complicity of the Congress leadership in Meghalaya,” he said.

The Assam Finance Minister also said that they would also take the charge-sheet to the doorstep of the people about the failures of the Congress to implement its many promises made and various other schemes.

Leading the BJP mission to oust the Congress governments in the North East region, Sarma also categorically ruled out that the chief minister Mukul Sangma will not be admitted into the saffron party till he lost his own seat.

“In any circumstances he (Mukul) will not be admitted into the BJP (although he had not applied). Till he lost his own seat in the next election, none of us will meet him,” he said while denying that he had never met Mukul since 2012.

“There should not be any iota of doubt that we symbolize Dr Mukul Sangma as the person who is responsible for the under-development of Meghalaya and there will be no political talks and no question of entertaining him in the BJP”

Commenting on the performance of Mukul, the BJP leader said, “I am sorry I’ll rate him at zero. When you don’t see a medical college, a university and a good engineering college in 10 years of rule – measuring him from 1 to 10 would be disservice.”

Questioning where is the medical college in Tura which was promised in 2011 when by now Assam has got 10 medical colleges, he said that another interesting fact is that there are only two government colleges in Meghalaya.

“Apart from NEHU, in the last five years which university Meghalaya government has set up except the scam university which has polluting mine and yours environment,” he said.

Referring to NGT ban on coal mining in the state, Sarma said, “But where is Meghalaya government active in Supreme Court…nobody is concern about livelihood, expansion of education, health.”

He added – “Even states like Manipur today have a state own medical college… where is Meghalaya government own university, own government colleges…I think he is not performing at all.”

Stating that Meghalaya is one of the “worst performing” states among the entire NE region, he said, “We will come up with the charge sheet with data and statistics on this.”
